Image Layout Tutorial
I started making sites in 2003 and for every site I make I use an image layout. Once I create the layout I open it up in my web editor. Then layer my iframes, text, images, etc. over the image layout. I use a WYSIWYG editor called Webdwarf to make most of my pages. Here are the steps I take to make these layouts. I hope this helps.
First of all open up MS Paint and choose the size you want the layout to be by going to Image -> Attributes.
I usually don't go past 830 width but I do vary in height (please be sure pixels is selected) The example I will show you right now will be for the layout I made for this site which has a width of 806 and a height of 527.
Once you get the blank space you want you can start making borders. Just use your imagination of what you want it to look like. I use the tools on the left to make basic borders. You can do whatever you want with these borders it's up to you. Once you get the basic layout of it then save it as .bmp in your documents.
Step 1
Step 2
Step 3
Then for the background behind the borders. Just click on File then New and you will get a blank space. Now once you get the blank space go to Edit -> Paste From and choose the background you want. Just keep tiling the background across the space by copying and pasting until the the entire space is filled. Once you've done that then go to Edit -> Paste From again and get the image with the borders you had made earlier and paste it on top of the background please be sure the square at the bottom is selected so that way it will be transparent and you can see the background.
Well that's all. You can then add a title and images if you want then save it as .bmp and your done making your image layout. You can then use this in any WYSIWYG editor like I do or make it with a code. Have Fun.
Make sure this square is selected -->
